The top man­age­ment of the Rhei­nisch-Ber­gi­sche Ver­lags­ge­sell­schaft mbH, the hold­ing com­pa­ny of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe, con­sists of three man­ag­ing di­rec­tors: Jo­hannes Wer­le, Patrick Lud­wig and Hans Pe­ter Bork.

Johannes Werle

Chairman of the Board

Jo­hannes Wer­le, born in 1967, stud­ied busi­ness man­age­ment in Mannheim, Paris, Ox­ford and Berlin. He com­plet­ed his stud­ies with both a de­gree in busi­ness man­age­ment and with the Diplôme Grande Ecole de Com­merce, MSc. His ca­reer in the me­dia sec­tor be­gan in 1993 in the cen­tral cor­po­rate de­vel­op­ment di­vi­sion of Ber­tels­mann AG. In 1997, he moved to Pris­ma Presse SNC in France, where he first­ly con­clud­ed a trainee­ship in jour­nal­ism. He be­came pub­lish­ing house man­ag­er of the Paris-based in­ter­na­tion­al di­vi­sion of Gruner & Jahr AG in 1998. There he was re­spon­si­ble for the com­mer­cial ac­count­abil­i­ty con­cern­ing all in­ter­na­tion­al ac­tiv­i­ties . Since 2002 on­wards, Jo­hannes Wer­le’s po­si­tions have in­clud­ed man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Na­tion­al Ge­o­graph­ic France and pub­lish­ing house man­ag­ing di­rec­tor and pub­lish­er of the brands “GEO” and “ça m'intéresse.” In 2007, he took the post of man­ag­ing di­rec­tor at Ver­lags­gruppe NEWS GmbH in Vi­en­na. In the sum­mer of 2016 Jo­hannes Wer­le grad­u­at­ed the Stand­ford Ex­ec­u­tive Pro­gram of the Stan­ford Uni­ver­si­ty in Cal­i­for­nia.

Jo­hannes Wer­le has been a man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Rheinis­che Post Me­di­en­gruppe since 2012. He has been deputy chair­man of the board of di­rec­tors since in Jan­uary 2017. Since April 2018 he is chair­man of the board. He as­sumed re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for the Dai­ly News­pa­pers NRW, “Dig­i­tal” busi­ness seg­ment and the su­per­vi­sion of the ma­jor­i­ty share­hold­ing of the Saar­brück­er Zeitungs­gruppe.


Patrick Ludwig 

Deputy Chairman of the Board

Patrick Lud­wig, born in 1959, stud­ied busi­ness man­age­ment at the RWTH Aachen. As a busi­ness man­age­ment grad­u­ate he be­gan his ca­reer in 1987 in the Group Au­dit­ing Di­vi­sion at Bay­er AG in Lev­erkusen. In 1989 he moved to Fire­stone Deutsch­land GmbH in Bad Hom­burg as op­er­at­ing man­ag­er. In 1991 he be­came com­mer­cial man­ag­er at the Ver­lags­gruppe Han­dels­blatt GmbH in Düs­sel­dorf. In 2000 he was ap­point­ed as com­mer­cial man­ag­ing di­rec­tor there, be­com­ing deputy chair­man of the board of di­rec­tors in 2003. At the start of 2007 he be­came a man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe. He has been deputy chair­man of the board of di­rec­tors since Ju­ly 2011, where he is re­spon­si­ble for the di­vi­sions Ad­ver­tis­ing pa­per pub­lish­ing hous­es, Pro­fes­sion­al me­dia, Prop­er­ty and Ser­vices.

Hans Peter Bork 

Managing Director

Hans Pe­ter Bork, born in 1967, stud­ied busi­ness man­age­ment in Mar­burg, Paris, Ox­ford and Berlin and com­plet­ed his stud­ies both with a de­gree in busi­ness man­age­ment and with the Diplôme Grande Ecole de Com­merce, MSc. He suc­cess­ful­ly passed the pro­fes­sion­al ex­ams as cer­ti­fied tax ad­vi­sor, char­tered ac­coun­tant and cer­ti­fied pub­lic ac­coun­tant.

Hans Pe­ter Bork be­gan his ca­reer in 1993 at BDO Deut­sche Waren­treu­hand AG in Düs­sel­dorf, where he be­came a part­ner in 2000 and branch man­ag­er in 2006. In 2007 he moved to De­loitte & Touche GmbH in Düssel­dorf as a char­tered ac­count­ing part­ner. Since June 2011 he has been a man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe, where he is re­spon­si­ble for the Ra­dio business segment as well as for the areas of Fi­nance, Ac­count­ing, Tax, Con­trol­ling, Law, M&A, Au­dit­ing, and CIO/Da­ta Pro­tec­tion.
