Board of Directors

The top management of the Rhei­nisch-Ber­gi­sche Ver­lags­ge­sell­schaft mbH, the holding company of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe, consists of three managing directors: Johannes Werle, Patrick Ludwig and Hans Peter Bork.

Johannes Werle, born in 1967, studied business management in Mannheim, Paris, Oxford and Berlin. He completed his studies with both a degree in business management and with the Diplôme Grande Ecole de Commerce, MSc. His career in the media sector began in 1993 in the central corporate development division of Bertelsmann AG. In 1997, he moved to Prisma Presse SNC in France, where he firstly concluded a traineeship in journalism. He became publishing house manager of the Paris-based international division of Gruner & Jahr AG in 1998. There he was responsible for the commercial accountability concerning all international activities . Since 2002 onwards, Johannes Werle’s positions have included managing director of National Geographic France and publishing house managing director and publisher of the brands “GEO” and “ça m'intéresse.” In 2007, he took the post of managing director at Verlagsgruppe NEWS GmbH in Vienna. In the summer of 2016 Johannes Werle graduated the Standford Executive Program of the Stanford University in California.

Johannes Werle has been a managing director of the Rheinische Post Mediengruppe since 2012. He has been deputy chair­man of the board of di­rec­tors since in January 2017. Since April 2018 he is chairman of the board. He assumed responsibility for the Daily Newspapers NRW, “Digital” business segment and the supervision of the majority shareholding of the Saarbrücker Zeitungsgruppe.

Patrick Ludwig, born in 1959, studied business management at the RWTH Aachen. As a business management graduate he began his career in 1987 in the Group Auditing Division at Bayer AG in Leverkusen. In 1989 he moved to Firestone Deutschland GmbH in Bad Homburg as operating manager. In 1991 he became commercial manager at the Ver­lags­gruppe Han­dels­blatt GmbH in Düs­sel­dorf. In 2000 he was appointed as commercial managing director there, becoming deputy chairman of the board of directors in 2003. At the start of 2007 he became a managing director of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe. He has been deputy chairman of the board of directors since July 2011, where he is responsible for the divisions Advertising paper publishing houses, Professional media, Property and Services.

Hans Peter Bork

Hans Peter Bork, born in 1967, studied business management in Marburg, Paris, Oxford and Berlin and completed his studies both with a degree in business management and with the Diplôme Grande Ecole de Commerce, MSc. He successfully passed the professional exams as certified tax advisor, chartered accountant and certified public accountant.

Hans Peter Bork began his career in 1993 at BDO Deut­sche Waren­treu­hand AG in Düs­sel­dorf, where he became a partner in 2000 and branch manager in 2006. In 2007 he moved to Deloitte & Touche GmbH in Düsseldorf as a chartered accounting partner. Since June 2011 he has been a managing director of the Rhei­ni­sche Post Medi­en­gruppe, where he is responsible for the divisions Radio, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Controlling, Auditing and Data Protection.
